The following is a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), about Zero Effect Online Radio:
Q: What is "Online Radio"?
A: Just like the name implies, online radio is like a radio station, but broadcast over the internet, instead of the air waves.
Q: Do I need to pay a fee or subscribe or something?
A: Nope. Zero Effect Online Radio is totally free. As corny as it sounds, we're doing this for the love of the music.
Q: What do I need to listen to your station?
A: Two things - An internet connection, (Which you already have, if you're reading this. ) and the free Winamp media player for Windows.
We're working on providing support for other operating systems and media players, and should have that availablein the very near future one of these centuries.
Q: Okay, I have Winamp installed, how do I tune in to your broadcast?
A: If you look near the top of this page, you should see a cool little animated banner that says "Zero Effect Online Radio." Right below that are some silver buttons with the names of the servers that are currently broadcasting. Click the button for the server you want, and the audio should start automatically.
Q: I clicked the server button, but instead of playing the broadcast, it started downloading a file called "listen.pls" what happened?
A: This happens sometimes depending on how your browser is configured. If you get a window asking you if you want to download the file or open it, just tell it to open the file with Winamp.
Q: What kind of music does your station play?
A: The good kind.
Seriously. Although our main broadcast The Holding Pattern consists primarily of electronica and dance music, we're open to all kinds of musical expression.
Currently we have three radio programs in addition to The Holding Pattern - Dj Solace's ART Zero: Classical California Coast, which features a variety of classical music as well as classic blues and jazz; Reiku Hiteruo's Midnight Noir a tribute to classic swing music; and Dj Ch405's Sonic Ch405, a hardcore mix of techno, metal, and hip-hop influences that is not for the faint of heart. (Or the easily offended. )
The goal of Jerry Riggs Studios is to promote quality music of all types, and that carries through in our online radio station. We're constantly on the lookout for new talent, so expect a lot of new shows from a wide range of musical styles to appear here in the future.
Q: What if I'm that new talent you're looking for? Can I get a show on your station?
A: Sure. As you can probably tell, we're still getting things set up on our end right now, but one of things that will be appearing soon are the artist and Dj application boards. This is where people from around the world will be able to apply for a spot on Zero Effect Online Radio. Whether you're just looking to get your songs on the air or want to Dj your own Online Radio show, this is your chance to get your talents heard world-wide.
Q: I keep seeing the names ART Zero and Jerry Riggs Studios around here, who or what are they?
A: Jerry Riggs Studios is a small recording studio and independent record label run by yours truly, Jerry Riggs. We're based out of San Luis Obispo California in the United States; but thanks to the internet even a small time operation like ours can reach a global audience, and that's just what we intend to do with Zero Effect Online Radio.
ART Zero: International Concepts is a collaborative entity made of different art-related 'not-for-profit' businesses and organizations, including Jerry Riggs Studios. I guess you could say ART Zero is the Beatles and I'm George Harrison.
Yes, I have an ego. This is the music biz baby, what did you expect?
